Silence once again enveloped the ocean. The light in the water was soft, the currents calm, yet Callen felt it was only an illusion. Beneath the surface, something stirred—subtle but insistent. He often found himself gazing into the depths, as if trying to discern what lay hidden beyond the visible horizon.
One night, immersed in deep meditation, he held the Stones of Balance in his hands. Their light, usually soft and comforting, unexpectedly dimmed. Instead, they began to pulse with a cold, heavy energy that pierced directly into his heart.
A Vision of Destruction
Callen was thrust into a vision that chilled him to the core. He saw the ocean torn apart by massive whirlpools, devouring underwater cities. Towering shadows rose from the depths, filling the waters with darkness. Sea creatures fought chaotically, while his home city was reduced to ruins.
From the abyss, a voice emerged, so powerful it felt like the ocean itself speaking:
“This power does not belong to you. You will pay for your sins.”
The words sank into him, making him feel helpless against the immensity and malice of the entity lurking in the shadows.
A Call to Defend
Waking in a cold sweat, Callen knew this vision was a warning that could not be ignored. He summoned the Council of Keepers and described the entity behind the looming threat.
“We face the deepest darkness,” he said, his voice steady, though his hands trembled slightly. “If we do not stop it, everything we have protected will be destroyed.”
Liriel, Turaak, and the other council members sat silently, their faces reflecting determination.
“We will fight,” Turaak finally said. “We will defend our home at any cost.”
The Council resolved to fortify the city, strengthening it with magic and the power of the Stones of Balance. They sent a call to all ocean creatures—from tiny glowing jellyfish to mighty krakens—asking them to unite for the final battle.
Preparing for the Ultimate Trial
Day by day, the ocean buzzed with preparation. Dolphins patrolled the borders, glowing creatures illuminated the waters, and octopuses built barriers of stone and coral. Callen knew the battle would be fierce, but he believed that their unity and devotion could stop even the oldest force of destruction.
Standing atop the temple, holding the Stones of Balance, Callen gazed out into the vast ocean. Their light had returned to its gentle glow, but he understood the greatest trial still lay ahead.
His story was far from over. It continued to be written in the surging waters of the ocean, where every inhabitant stood ready to defend their home.
